A contemporary single-level bungalow exploring horizontal architectural expression where clean lines, open pavilions, and landscape integration create a modern residence that embraces site, light, and outdoor living.
The architectural concept of this residence is rooted in the exploration of horizontal expression and landscape integration, where a modern single-level bungalow unfolds as a series of interconnected pavilions, courtyards, and open terraces. Rather than emphasizing vertical massing, the design celebrates the horizontality of the built form, allowing the architecture to sit gently within the landscape and engage deeply with the surrounding natural environment.
The composition is organized as a sequence of rectangular volumes connected through transparent glass corridors and covered walkways. These volumes define distinct functional zones—living, dining, sleeping, recreation—while maintaining visual and spatial continuity across the residence. The low-slung rooflines reinforce the horizontal character, creating sheltered outdoor areas that blur the boundaries between inside and outside.
A key architectural gesture is the use of extended roof overhangs and open pavilions, which provide shaded outdoor spaces and encourage a lifestyle that embraces the landscape. Large floor-to-ceiling glass openings dissolve the traditional facade, inviting natural light, views, and breezes into the interiors while framing the surrounding gardens, lawns, and mature trees.
Materiality follows a refined contemporary palette. White plaster surfaces, natural stone cladding, warm timber elements, and dark metal frames combine to create a modern yet grounded aesthetic. The restrained material language allows the architecture to remain understated, ensuring that the residence complements rather than competes with the natural landscape.
Water features, landscaped courtyards, and native plantings are woven into the architectural composition, reinforcing the residence's connection to the site and enhancing the sense of tranquility and openness.
Through its horizontal architectural language, open pavilion planning, and deep integration with the landscape, the residence becomes a modern sanctuary—celebrating outdoor living, natural light, and the quiet beauty of contemporary design.
